Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser has presented Border Star Montessori, a Kansas City, Missouri School District (KCMSD) campus, with a proclamation for its contribution to its neighborhood and the city overall.

The proclamation was delivered to Border Star the week of May 26, 2010. The wording of the proclamation is as follows:

“Whereas, the city of Kansas City, Missouri has developed a nationwide reputation as one of America’s most livable communities; and

Whereas, schools and neighborhoods are the foundation upon which a City is built, upon which it thrives, and upon which it grows, and

Whereas, the City of Kansas City, Missouri is working to revitalize and strengthen neighborhoods around all of the City’s many schools, creating islands of safety throughout the City, and

Whereas, improvements to the City’s many schools strengthen our neighborhoods, and, in turn, improvements to our neighborhoods strengthen our schools, and

Whereas, such improvements help the City of Kansas City, Missouri grow as a vital and viable community, encouraging current residents to remain and sparking others to move and become proud Kansas Citians, and

Whereas, strong schools and growing neighborhoods lead to new businesses, new jobs and economic opportunity, and

Whereas, the City of Kansas City, Missouri schools and neighborhoods are aided everyday by thousands of unheralded heroes;

Now, therefore, I, Mark Funkhouser, Mayor of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, do hereby take pride in giving special recognition to Border Star Montessori for being one of many Shining Stars that have set an example of why the City of Kansas City, Missouri is a great place to live.”
