Thanks and We Need Your Help

A big thanks to Angela Blackwell and all the volunteers that helped to make the annual Back-to-School BBQ such a success!

As I mentioned at the BBQ we have one more project to tackle before the first day of school…putting a fresh coat of paint on the library for Mrs Parker and the students of Border Star.

While I’m sure you may have plans this weekend, we’d love if you’d consider spending a few hours with us priming and painting.

Saturday, August 11th
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Sunday, August 12th
10:00 am – until we finish
Hope to see you there!

Art Fair Parking

This weekend is the annual Brookside Art Annual and Border Star Montessori PTA’s spring fundraiser.

The Art Fair Parking fundraiser raises approximately 20% of our annual revenues that allows the PTA to provide things like classroom stipends and field trips.  While raising money is great, we want to make sure everyone knows the overall schedule and procedures we’re using to ensure our students remain safe and secure at all times.

Parent volunteers will be on hand to monitor the building entrance/exits Thursday and Friday.

Thursday, May 3rd

5:30 pm   Artists may park their vehicles on the blacktop

LINC will maintain students inside the building

Friday, May 4th

7:00 – 9:00 am   DROP OFF:  Artists may NOT load-in during this time

9:00 – 3:00 pm   Artist parking begins

No outside recess

3:00 – 4:30 pm   PICK UP:  To ensure the safety of students, we’re encouraging parents to pick up and leave the school grounds OR if you choose to stay to keep students confined to the playground or prairie

LINC will maintain students inside the building

4:30 – 6:00 pm   Limited parking allowed on blacktop

6:00 – 9:00 pm   General parking fundraiser – volunteers still needed

MAP testing

Border Star Montessori students began MAP testing today. The tests will run through this week with the final testing day this Friday, April 20th.

A good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast and on-time attendance will ensure your child has a productive day.

As a Montessori student, some children will be more familiar with Montessori terms they use in everyday lessons than traditional instruction. Going over some of the terms found in the MAP tests can also help your child anticipate terminology that may seem new to them.

If you have any questions regarding the tests, feel free to call Border Star Montessori’s counselor, Ms. Green, at 816.418.5171.
