Summer Stars is back for an extra week of fun!

The summer program will continue for an extra week through Friday, August 20th.  If you would like to sign-up for your child to attend, please email Paula at paulabusser@yahoo.com or call (816) 267-0121.

Hours will be 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Dear Border Star Montessori Families,

Welcome back to a wonderful and exciting new school year!  We hope that this letter finds you and your family healthy, rested and ready for the first day of school Monday, August 30th.

We have another big year planned!  The following are some announcements and reminders to assist your family with a smooth transition into the 2010-2011 school year.

School Day

7:05 am                  Busses arrive

7:20 am               School Day Begins

7:30 am                 Tardy Bell

2:35 pm                 Dismissal

2:35-6:00 pm       After Care

School Uniforms
The uniform policy remains the same.  Please see the school website for detailed uniform policy information.

Field Trips
Payments will continue to be $20 per child to include all field trips taken throughout the year.  Payment forms will be sent home in your child’s Wednesday folder.

Class and Supply Lists
Be sure and check the “Links” on the school website for to see which class your child is assigned as well as the associated supply list.

Wednesday Folders
We will continue to use the blue vinyl folders with zippers that will go home on Wednesdays with school information.

School Lunches
Applications for Free/Reduced Lunch will be sent home in the first week’s Wednesday folder.  We need 100% completion.  Please complete the form and return it to your child’s teacher.

Back to School BBQ!
Friday, August 27th

Kansas City Councilman Terry Riley is joining forces with the Kansas City, Missouri School District (KCMSD) and longtime partner Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners to host his annual Back-to-School Fair on Saturday, July 31 at Manual Career Technical Center.

The fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the football field at Manual Tech, 1215 E. Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64106. For more information,  please call (816) 513-1629. Confirmations of reservations will be mailed by July 12.

KCMSD will operate two school bus shuttles that will transport visitors to and from the Manual Tech complex. The shuttle sites are as follows:

  • Northeast High School, 415 Van Brunt Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64106  (In front of the school)
  • Afrikan-Centered Education Collegium Campus, 3500 E. Meyer Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64132 (In front of the Upper Campus)

The shuttles will begin at 9:30 a.m. The buses will travel between the shuttle sites and Manual Tech at nearly 30-minute intervals. The last shuttle bus will depart Manual Tech for drop-off at 1:30 p.m.

In recent years, the councilman, in partnership with Children’s Mercy Family Health Partners, and the District hosted separate back-to-school fairs in order to bring needed supplies and services to local families. This year, the trio is combining its collective resources and community connections to bring backpacks, school supplies, school uniforms, immunizations, health services, books, and much more to an estimated 5,000 students.

The fair is also supported by the following community partners: Carter Broadcast Group, OfficeMax, Target, and KCWE Channel 29.
